A Conclave of Storybook Creators in the Division of Cavite Province

Stories play a vital role in the growth and development of children. The books they read and the characters they get to know can become like friends. It’s also good for children to understand that books are a useful source of information and that good reading skills are important for success in their future lives. Reading also helps children with their confidence levels, coping with feelings and language and learning.

Championing Storybook Writing

Anchored on the main goal of empowering teachers, the Division of Cavite had produced champions in the National Storybook Writing and Illustration Competitions by the DepEd. Since 2017, DepEd Cavite has sustained winnings in the regional and national tilts, grabbed the back-to-back first places in storybook writing and illustration contests for Grade 3 level in 2018, and secured two consecutive back-to-back championships in storybook writing and illustration for Grade 1 level in 2019. These materials are now part of the DepEd’s Reading Treasury, an online repository for teachers containing the winning storybooks developed by Filipino teachers.
